SCDA is a charity supporting communities in Sussex, which includes a low-cost counselling service that operates in four towns in East Sussex. I’m part of a team of more than twenty counsellors who give our time for free to provide this counselling, but the charity has to pay for room hire, insurance, and administration costs. As a result, although sessions are very low cost, clients do have to contribute.
This year, we’re hoping to launch a hardship fund so that even those who can’t afford to contribute can benefit from accessing counselling and support from us. In order to kick this off, I’ve organised a sponsored 25 mile challenge walk on Saturday 7th September from Eastbourne, through Newhaven and on to Lewes – all three of which are locations where SCDA provides counselling

You can sponsor us here on our GoFundMe page – if you can spare a few pounds towards getting our hardship fund off the ground that would be really appreciated. We work with whomever needs us – there’s no need for a referral from a GP or from a mental health practitioner – but some people just can’t afford to attend counselling, or they have to drop out half way through.
Anything you can donate to sponsor us on this crazy walk to launch our hardship fund would be much appreciated!
